director’s vision

Sanjay began practicing martial arts and meditation at thirteen, inspired by Bruce Lee. He later competed in kickboxing to confront his fears. He interned at the world-famous Westside Barbell in the USA to pursue physical strength. However, he was left with more questions about the mind. His questions led him to The Iceman (Wim Hof). He worked closely with The Iceman to learn more about the mind, climbed Africa’s highest mountain in his shorts, sat in a 1-degree Celsius ice bath for an hour, and became a breathwork coach. Yet still, he had questions.

Through a chance encounter during his work, Sanjay divided into the world of Tummo. The stories of the Himalayan monks resonated with him and deepened his spiritual journey.

Sanjay became more interested in Tummo and found Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche’s online Tummo course. The next thing he knew, he was in touch with him to tell his story. The inner fire brought them together to share the story of Tummo with the world.

Sanjay’s background as a breathing and cold exposure coach, his love for filmmaking, and his family roots in the province where the Buddha found enlightenment made this documentary seem natural.

Sanjay is now in post-production of his documentary, Beyond The Fence, about the environmental impact of fencing in Kenya. He’s also working as a cinematographer for a docu-series, Reset, on alternative medication for depression that features the world’s leading scientists and public figures.
